It's very possible if it were a jig of some sort but, fly fishing was most prominent where you are from and has been practiced for a very long time. If it is a lead "jig" they were used to get to the fish in deeper water.

Is it metal? Is it hollow inside? Looks kinda like a barrel tap spout or pipe. Just guessing.

It's brass, hollow inside, but no hole on top. At 1", I'd have thought a bit small for a barrel tap.. ???

Heres, a thought. Looks like a melted bullet which has pressed up against something to give the texture.

I didnt realize it was that small. I didnt visualize the size until I saw it in your hand. Are you sure its a fish? Now it just looks like a deformed piece of metal.

That was my first thought when I saw it, it even has what seems like eyes either side. However, Crasader's explanation seems more than plausible.

If it's brass I would say not a bullet.

Almost looks like a deformed barrel from a dart.

Crikey... the plot thickens! I really don't know what to think.

One minute it looks like a fish, the next it looks like a lump of nothing.

I guess It will have to be filed under 'T' for 'Thingybob'. ;D

(That cabinet lock is nice, BTW!)

Your last picture looks exactly like the back end of a modern jacketed bullet. I shoot allot of .30 cal surplus, and some of the jackets on allot of them are alloys, or brass or copper washed steel. Could it be a rifle round that lost enough energy to not get totally mangled when it hit something? Could have had a steel core that kept truckin.
