Well it has been raining since yesterday, but by this afternoon I could see it was going to break off for a while. So I made a mad dash to my site, just to see if anything had washed up. I walked to my spot but it was hard going, The mud was just soup, I was in such a hurry I forgot my camera in the jeep. I gave up on walking the field and turned around to go back to my jeep and found this ,I had walked right past it trying to get to the bead site. I think it is a tube pipe, a friend says it could be a banner stone, I think it is a pipe. The disk had nicked it a few times but not bad.View attachment 868272View attachment 868274View attachment 868276View attachment 868277I don't know what type of stone it is, it's real heavy, I have never seen anything made of it around here. It has a lite polish to it, you can still see the grinding marks on the stone. My friend could be right the small hole looks to big to me for smoking through, it could be a banner weight:dontknow:

Does the hole taper or is it the same all the way through? It sure looks like a Tube Pipe to me and the hole should taper if it is.

This is the first pipe for me:occasion14:. The bad thing is I was a little pumped up over it, but I was really looking for another bead and finding that one still has me in a whirlwind.:drunken_smilie:

Tube pipes are a trait of the Poverty Point culture.
