Fancy suspender clips :icon_scratch:, or a two piece hair clip possibly.
Shame about losing the stone, although it was probably glass, if it has shattered as you describe.

What size are they?

These are one, and a half, by 3/4 inches. The back has nothing on it. Its smoth with a tiny hole under where the stone was. One has the entire stone insert missing. It looks like a flower reath around to area where the stone was, and the rest of the area on the front of it. There is an area on it that shines like brass.

I think its part of a Victorian ladies sash buckle. Its the central piece which pivetted on each end & the grip at the bottom held the fabric & therefore the buckle in place. The rest of the outer piece of the buckle is missing (ie. the main frame).

That sounds reasonable to me. I thought it might be something like that. Just not for sure.

I believe they are to small to be combs. The teeth are not deep enough. Looks like small grabber teeth to old a belt together.
