Someone beat me to the punch...also, my recent finds.

Drove around town yesterday and visited about 20 banks. I live in the BCS area of central Texas which has a population of roughly 130,000 people so plenty of banks. Many of the banks I went to didn't have halves and told me I should have come last week as some old guy came through and bought up all their halves. Don't know who he was, but at least 25% of the banks I checked all talked about the same guy coming in and buying halves. Ended up with <$70 worth in teller halves that came out to a big skunk.

On a different note, I realized I haven't posted any finds on here for awhile.

Searched 2 boxes of dimes last week, found 1 Silver Roosevelt.

Searched a box of nickels yesterday found:
1942-P Silver War nickel
1939-S Jefferson in great shape.
2 x 2009D
2005 1 Krone from Norway
1956 Cinco Centavos de Mexico
28 x Pre-1960 Nickels

My 2 boxes of nickels from last week yielded:
2 Dateless Buffalo Nickels
1943-P War Nickel
11 x 2009D
~30 Pre-1960's Per box
handful of Canadian nickels


So, I'm finding bits and pieces here and there but was severely disappointed with not being the early bird on the halves. If you are on here sir, well played! My hats off to you and hope you found many treasures!

I have been getting very similar results around here and have switched mainly to nickels and dimes. I really only walk in to banks for halves when im doing a road trip. I still call around town, but rarely have luck.

Yes, I had off from work yesterday and really just wanted to get back to my house with a 40%'er, but yeah, nickels and dimes are the way to go around here as well from what I've seen unless you can grab a bag of halves straight off the coin counter. I'm gonna try to grab a bag of quarters whenever they fill up as well. Just to test the waters.
