First, use the left top button to turn the machine on. I select "no" because I don't want the speaker, I am using headphones. IMG_2872.JPG

IMG_2873.JPG You will see the program went to the program I used last, in this case "Deus Fast" which is at the top of the screen.

IMG_2874.JPG If you do not want the Deus Fast program in this case, Use the + or - button to select which one you want.

IMG_2875.JPG Now its time to ground balance it. Push the right hand top button to get to the balance menu.IMG_2876.JPG Once you push it you have gone into the selection mode for the balancing. It defaults to "manual".

Since I want "tracking" I select the top middle button and press till I get to tracking.IMG_2878.JPG

Now, push the right top button again to get back to the main menu.

IMG_2879.JPG See post #2 below because I don't want to lose the pics again!

Time to set the frequency. I like the higher frequencies. Just me, but I do well with them. Push the right hand top button again and this is the screen you get. IMG_2880.JPG

IMG_2881.JPGIMG_2882.JPG It will first show "disc". Keep pushing that top middle button to get to frequency. IMG_2883.JPG

Now that we are at the "frequency" screen use the + or - button to select which frequency you want. IMG_2884.JPG I chose the 74.4 khz, which is the highest in the industry. I love that one and its only available on the HF coil.

Lastly, push the top right button to get out of that menu and go for the gold!IMG_2886.JPG

Thanks for posting. What is the difference in manual and tracking ground balance. I don't have an HF coil but I do use an 11" X-35. I have always hunted using the manual(pre-set) ground balance. I use either the fast or deep program.

I THINK you have to set the manual, but I'm too lazy to try it. Tracking works best in the bad, uneven ground around here.

Thank you for sharing..I hope to also get a Xp Deus soon

Have you ever dared to go higher in the Freq. like into the high 70's or into the 80's?

That's as high as a metal detector will go. 74.4 and only on a Deus. Unless something was invented last week and I didn't get the memo.

Hit 74, hit expert, crank it up, unless I'm reading it wrong.

That's why. I don't play with the expert mode. I do fine with what I have. But good to know.

Boy that thing has some wear on it. No mercy shown to that Deus!
That should be a good example of how willing and ready the unit is to get the job done. I can't bring myself to get one of those purely on cost alone.

I have already repolished that face twice. I used the stuff you use on headlights. The rest of it looks like a dog chewed on it.

Wonder if the stuff would work on eye glasses?

What is the default mode if you don't go into the settings? I have a Deus but I am too lazy to go get it out of the store room! Well, not lazy. Truth be told I am having bad lower back spasms when ever I try to get up either out of a chair or out of bed. Once I am up or down the pain subsides. And, I can't get in to see my doctor until July!!

Default is problem #1 - Basic. I have the latest software on it.

I don't think the polish will work with glasses because after you buff it twice, a clear coat goes on. The little lens was so scratched I couldn't see anything on it.
