Went out with a buddy this weekend to a new spot in middle Georgia, reported to have been an old Native American trading post nearby.
The area is near the Ocmulgee River and was selectively clear cut within the last few years and then a tornado came through a year or two ago and felled the rest of the trees.
There is quartz all over the ground. I mean everywhere.
We found over 100 quartz points, scrapers and tools. Lots of preforms as well.
There is also a lot of flint.
We both got a small mason jar full of worked flint pieces, small knives - scrapers.
Also found some really nice flint points.
Three pics below all are flint.
The big one is grey and lime green flint.
The medium one is white and tan.
The small one is tan - very translucent.
How would I go about doing some research on this particular area - there are way too many artifacts here to just be a coincidence.
I would really like to know if there was some kind of trading post here.
