Re: Some waterfalls

Great pictures, but number 3 is my favorite, I would love to see it in person. Oregon is number 1 on my
wish list to visit. Your great photos just make me wish more.

Fabulous photos - you captured the water perfectly. Was that at 1/60th with a SLR?
Hi TT,

I used my old Canon Digital Rebel with the 18-55 kit lens that came with the camera.

These were between 2 and 8 second shutter speeds.

Thanks for your kind words,

Ron

Hi, great pics of the falls. Those rustic and woodsie types are always so interresting to look at. Thanks for sharing. Ray.

Sorry, I know I'm commenting a bit late, but how do you keep your shots from being overexposed at such slow shutter speeds? Whenever I shoot at over 1 sec. my shots are pretty overexposed ... I shoot with a Canon Powershot ('something-rather' series), a biggish point+shoot, so I can't really do anything special with it.

I don't know anything about your camera, but I have found that lighting has a lot to do with it. I try to get to these places as early in the morning as possible, or just before dark, or complete shade or overcast day. Basically exposure for the low light requires a slow shutter speed.
A tripod is a necessity, I use the manual mode, ISO 100 aperture at f/16. Also use the camera's timer for shutter release.

Hope this helps a little,

Thanks ALL,

Ron

Re: Some waterfalls

Ah, that really helps. I've actually got a few ideas that I haven't been able to get because of this problem. But hopefully I can try again at these :D Thanks a lot!

Re: Some waterfalls

Super pictures! Thanks for reminding me, I haven't used my AE-1 in quite a while, I'd better check the battery so it doesn't leak! You must wait for a fairly calm day too as the wind would cause the leaves to move.

Your right Prober, forgot to mention that any little breeze will also make blurred vegetation.

Here's a couple more.

Thanks ALL

Oh wow, those 2 are great awesome!!

By the way I took your advice and went to the river before sunset and snapped like 50 photos and luckily 1 turned out!
And evidently the forests here in BC are a lot darker and gloomier than where you are :icon_sunny:
