I found the lead ball today in some woods. I have recovered a lot of Indian cents at this site , most of them date in the 1880s. It appears to be poured in a mold , theres a sprue mark. If you look closely theres lines going around it. I dont think its rifling marks. Any ideas? Is it just a lead weight of some sort? The other item I found nearby it looks like some sort of gas fitting to me. I dont think its old there is some more modern stuff dumped in that area.

Hello,

given that it is ornate, I´d rather say it is a curtain weight than a net or fishing weight.

I´d further rule out a spindel whorl: to small and those where largely obosolete by the time America was colonized.

Some times what it was originally made for gets modified. My guess would be a round musket ball that someone drilled a hole in for a fishing weight

Musket ball with a hole drilled in it.Muzzleloader rifles wouldn't leave rifling marks on the ball, the patch grips the rifling not the ball.

Either a curtain weight due to the ornate design or part of a handmade neckless used for trading with Native American's, that would be my guess... "D"
