I'm thinking some kind of old tie down cinch strap buckle?. Cleaned up it may have some info or patent numbers on it?, but maybe not??.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking trunk strap but never see anything with what appears to be springs? Not sure it is electrolysis worthy lol.

Trust me when I say it's not horse tack related, but it may be what is known as a walkaway or more commonly called a dropkick...think of it as bring similar to a relic rock (nothing to get yur panties in a wad)

Electrolysis isn't going to provide any more clues unless there is a mfg's head stamping on it.

If you find another then you'd have a pair of whatevers...:laughing7::laughing7:

My initial thinking on this item is a "hasp" of some sort...
Strap hasp...
Strap adjustment hasp / latch... ?

I will shoot from the hip before I research this...
and say that this is a medical instrument box strap hasp...
Or some other instrument strap hasp...but will check my theory.

Like the early version of a "flight case" latch... using a strap around box / item....
Which would be pulled tight and then spring would keep "tension".

OR part of a trunk latch.

I looked /poked around a bit yesterday... cannot find an example.
So I may be off on what I am thinking it is.
In other words...no luck so far on an ID.

Tis a oddball piece... but,,, looks sorta Fam to me in some way. :/

Maybe a part of a automobile hood or "bonnet" as the Canuks and Brits call it "strap buckle" that someone invented so your Grandpa would quit putting Grandma on the hood when he wanted to drive fast and hard and not having the hood fly up all the time :dontknow:

It's a back band buckle [actually, the proper terminology would be a back band hook] off of a harness.

Here's another similar item (roughly 4" wide) that I pulled a while back and had tossed in my scrap metal bin.
