This item is 6" in length and the widened end is quite sharp. Curious as to what it is used for. Thanks again. IMG_1382.JPG
 

It appears to be a gouge for woodworking. Either a lathe gouge with the wooden handle missing, or a gouge that was struck by a mallet.

How is asking for info in the 'what is it' forum spamming? He's not implying it's treasure, he's curious as to its purpose. That's the literal reason for this sub-forum.

I agree that it is ok. We have forums for items from Thrift Shops, yard sales, dumpster diving, etc. I would think it ok to post items you are curious about.

Well sir, some of what you are calling junk may have a value of several hundred dollars. Until those items are properly identified by the talented folks that are members here we have to put those items it the "properly identified column". So the "crap" phrase may very well be associated with...
