Without knowing the size its hard to tell, but I will guess part of a door knocker.

It might also be an ornament from something like a clock, mirror/picture frame, or item of furniture.

As 72C notes, some indication of its actual size would help— along with a photo of the back as well.

swat, that's a beautiful find. It seems to have two screw holes? If the higher one is larger, it's possible that one might have once held a pendulum type of pull, where the entire deal may have been a drawer or cupboard pull.

Its about 9" long and looks like it was attached to a pole. That was taken from my phone but will add more from my digital camera. Oh... also found a 1906 merc dime and that will be included in pics.

I don't mean to correct you sir but, is it possible you have found a Charles "Barber" dime? Mercury dimes (winged liberty heads) were struck in 1916 and lasted till 1945..I think Just saying :dontknow:
