Been out hunting a few spots here and there for an hour or two thought I would post. Was reading some post earlier this week about seeing everyones trash. This seems to be a fad that comes and goes around here every few months. Its usually started by someone new who thinks that everyone goes out and pretty much only digs good stuff. Then said person goes out and digs a lot of trash and a few good things. After awhile they think to themselves they must be doing something wrong because there is no way these people can be digging so much trash.Well they are and we do and I am,so heres a shot of maybe 5 or 6 hours worth of trash at a few scattered sites

Me and my hunting buddy KentG got over to this old school he put us onto last week for a couple of hours one night this week,I dug a merc 3 wheats and a little bit of clad, thought I was doing ok til I get a look in Kents bag,now Kent is a great detectorist, been doing it a lot of years and has used a lot of different machines hes currently using a sweet XLT but has less than a year with it so Ive been watching him come along on this machine and I think it is really starting to click for him. We were there less than 2 hours he dug a buffalo,a merc,5 or 6 wheats a little charm 2 or 3 doodads and then pulls out a nice looking indian I forget the date but I believe it was pre 1900. I was humbled. Had to fix my moms storm door one evening last week, house was built in the mid 50's figure id give it a spin only had about 10 minutes, the wife called right about the cussing phase of the storm door repair to inform me I needed to hurry on home with hamburger buns soon as I was finished, dug a wheat next to a sidewalk that used to run to a beauty shop that a lady used to run out of one side of the garage, was 6 or 7 inches down but rang in really nice with good clean numbers, usually the tones will start getting scratchy on a coin after 4 or 5 inches,I use the 7 1/4 inch coil so I dont get a lot of the really deep ones, but every site I hunt is covered in trash so I find more with the smaller coil. Do the small Sunray or Platypus get more depth than the Minelab coil,or at least cleaner sounds at depth?anyone? The rest of my finds are from here and there no place in particular, dug one more merc and several wheats,a copper lords prayer thingy..hmm a .22 live round and whatever other stuff is in the pics thanks for looking:}...Shoot

Nice. I have been finding a lot of trash too. Think i am going to change the name to "trash man".... Been to some old campsites which were used several times for over 200 years, but all i found were lots of old rusty cans up to almost two feet deep in sites that don't even appear on maps, but no luck yet finding anything good. :-\

Great finds. I haven't found a merc in a while and seeing all these merc on TNET isgiving me merc fever. ;D :D

I think you are doing the right thing. I would stick with the 7.5" coil. Over the weekend I hunted a small area that I have done a lot of time with only the 7.5" coil. Some of the coins were about 6-7 inches deep. I went over the same area with the stock 10" and didn't get any other "deeper" coins. I know the stock coil goes deeper but not that much more and the advantage with the smaller coil in target separation is worth sacrificing a little depth.

Looks like a very nice group there....anytime there are goodies with the junque it is a good day! :D

I am guilty of throwing my trash in the cans at the parks I hunt. In fact I was just given a big "Thank you" by a park worker...or so I thought. Turns out he was the head of the parks department and had been told I was digging holes in the parks. He looked at my "holes" and said as long I was digging the plugs and replacing them so well I was able to detect anywhere in the city parks. His intentions were to bust me digging HOLES and putting a stop to it. When he saw the junk I had and was throwing away he was doubly pleased...Nice to get someone like that on "Our" side. He also told me about a park I never knew existed......I'm thinking that is going to be a tomorrows hunt and will be hoping for the best.
