I haven't been posting finds in a while, infact, since before the DFXonly club hunt (I still need to post those finds...some cool old relics) but Mirage told me I should post the (I thought) 1921 Merc I found so I thought why not?
Other things have been taking my time up from detecting every day but I still have been out some. In my own backyard I dug a Merc stuck to a wheatie. I literally had to pry them apart with a jewelers screwdriver they were stuck so hard. I thought it was a 1921 and when I started to clean it this morning to take a pic it turns out to be a 1926...oh well...still a Merc and still silver. Some of the green corrosion won't come off still, so since it's not a key date I'll try polish tonight.
Also shown is a 1907 IH I found last week with Mirage and Nate at the "Lincoln House" (see Bob's post about his "cold call")
This is the FIRST IH cent I have dug that is NOT a corroded mess so I'm real happy to get one with great detail (full Liberty and partial diamonds)
1907 was a common date but still...Nate helped clean it w/ Amonia/oil and it turned out great.
The musketballs and thimbles were found at another "new" spot of mine that has TONS of history but it's RIGHT SMACK in the middle of a major suburb so I gotta keep it quiet for now. I even pulled a horseshoe right exactly from where a 1860 map shows a blacksmith's shop was. The area is now wooded and surrounded by houses.
