Here are a couple of additional pictures of the piece from Vietnam, probably one of the better worked flint pieces I've had.

good looking artifacts, is the middle one a pick axe?

It's a Taino artifact from the caribbean called a petaloid axe, some of them were just ceremonial decoration, but most of them were used as celts.

Here are a couple more, the biggest one here is about 10 inches and is sharpened almost all the way around except the pointed end. The next picture are a couple of smaller tool versions, and my miniature monolithic axe/toy hatchet from the Dom. Rep.

Very cool!

How were the ones with tapered poll ends hafted? They look like they would have been socketed and used as chisels? I believe you that they were are axe heads, but I can't figure out how they were hafted. :dontknow:

Nice collection of polished axes/celts Josh. So cool to see stuff from so far away. I am always amazed at the amount of polish and the precision of the bits they put on them. Amazes me. I have a highlty polished one I found from here but has damage (by them :laughing7:) on it.
Oh yeah like the new Avatar. That a hoot. Very international sir :hello:
