Hello!
I found this today on an old homesite in the woods. The only remainder of the site is the terra-cotta well. I found it at around 8" and it was directly under a large root. I had to dig both sides of the root and scoop it out from underneath. It is made of copper, has a slot for a ribbon of some sort, and is about the size of a half-dollar. On one side it has a pic of some men on horses, one looks like he has a rifle. Possibly calvary men? The site is a few hundred yards from a bridge that was erected for transporting civil war prisoners across a river in my town. The other side says "CHILDRENS FOVNDERS ROLL COMMEMORATING THE HEROIC PEOPLE OF THE CONFEDERACY". Sorry the pic isn't the greatest....first time posting a pic online.
