Yes. Then replaced with a new marker when his wife died.

Since this is Deb's find, she can do whatever she would like to do with it, but is this something the family would like to have? What's everyone's general opinion?

Most unusual find

The guy working on the barn found it in the barn in the basement. I posted it to find out what it was. I would give it to the family probably but it will be his choice. I will get a feel for what he wants to do with it. I will be working with him the next few weeks. I bet the pile of money is where they will put the septic tank. @&$%#¥ sh/t.

The family may not even want it since he got a new one but it is worth a try like Breezie said!! they may be a-little on the edgy side when you show them what you got (some people just do not like anything to do with cemeteries, etc)

I once tried too return a coffin plate that I found @ a yard sale years back of a cw soldier who died in a battle to the family and they basically almost got upset! because the woman just didn't like the thought of it even though she was nice about it, I could tell she wasn't into that kind of stuff even if it was someone related too her.

I would put it back in the barn, because it was there for a reason. I would mention it to family/property owners and let them deal with it. It has no market value.

That was pretty cool to see the new headstone photo. Amazing what other people here can help with research and ideas. Thanks everyone.

I'm not so sure of that. People (scumbags) are stealing bronze plaques and headstones for their metal value. I've heard news stories lately of cemeteries being vandalized in that way. If nobody wants it, sell it for it'scrap value or use it as a Halloween decoration!
