I found this just above the high tide mark at the beach.

I noticed this was your very first post Christopher - so, Welcome Aboard! You didn't list your state (or country) in your profile. So, you might consider jumping over to Sub-Forums: Select Your Area.... and selecting location information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state (or country).

Chris, by the looks of it, might not be a coin at all, just the shape of one. Looks pretty toasted with rust, you could try electrolysis or even a vinegar soak for that matter, and maybe see IF there is ANY sort of detail on it. Worth a shot. Did I spell "electrolysis right?"

Hi, Chris. I've found a few of those myself. I'd like to think they are a rare coin but they are so completely toasted, I'll never know. May as well use vinegar or electrolysis to make an ID because there is no risk of ruining it at this point.

Welcome. It's about the size of an early large cent. Maybe earlier, like a state copper or English cent. Maybe try a little WD-40 on it to try to loosen things up some.

I'm with Tony, it looks rusty.

OP, Does it stick to a magnet? How did it ring up? High number?
