Found this on the old home site I've been carefully going over on my property. I think it's a button but not sure. Is the design on front relating to something or just a random decorative design. I like to post these little finds as I'm trying to learn more about what used to be here and figure out when the home was there. All that is left is the well I discovered with my metal detector not long ago. I've heard stories of the homesite being there but have found no records of it and have heard it burned down. I find lots of faint iron grunts that often when I dig them are huge shards of cast iron bits of stove about a foot down and have found huge window weights about that depths too and other random cast iron shards down deep. Just been a fun pet project for me to figure out the history. 20210217_203737.jpg20210217_203808.jpg20210217_203817.jpg

JVA5th,

Very nice find, great design on the button. I noticed that you have been killing it lately, I hope the trend continues. Good luck with your hunts. Walt

I've just learned to used my metal detector more efficiently. I run it on pro setting zero mode with iron not discrimated. I find I am able to pinpoint a lot of small targets and targets that normally iron would make me unable to hear been a whole new world for me. None of these finds come quick it's long hours of super slowly going over the area where a old home once was. I've detected these 20 acres for years and years and never found much or rarely a nice find. Finally I understand my AT Pro well and things are really opening up to me. I have an extreme about of patience and I'm extremely determined.

I am pretty sure that is a work clothes riveted stud-style button from the 1930's -1950's.

Yes, I agree its one of the "studs" used on what we call bib overalls around here. It looks 19th century to me.
