✅ SOLVED SOME SORT OF BUTTON

I found this button on a military base in Virginia. It looks pretty old to me, but I am kind of a rookie at this. You can see by the pictures that the gold is coming off. Does anyone have any idea shat this may be? It is about the size of a dime and appears to be gold (what hasn't come off with time). The length of the part that attaches to the uniform makes me think it is either a coat or a think wool uniform, but again, this is just a guess.
