Some sort of button, looked everywhere, cannot find it!

Found this button today, looked all over the internet for it and cannot see it anywhere!

At the back I can see the word London but cannot make out the others. Given a try ( 2000 HR 5E LONDON C . NITSCH )
The front has a crown at the top and a little crown below on a lions head with writing under it saying something like ( ESSAYEZ )

Any help would be appreciated

Neat find! It's a livery button and this site shows a similar example as being attached to the Earl of Zetland, Baron Dundas. (Dundas family)

May be hard to find an exact match on the internet - the Dundas family extends over hundreds of years. I would think your button was made after the 1850's.

I believe the hard to read portion of the backmark to be 20 Cork St, London.
