Some silver trinkets & gold foil
Hey everyone:
I've been reading all your posts and I am green with envy looking at all the treasures you've found! As I don't have access to old spots to detect I go to tot lots and parks with the occasional side trip to the beach.
On June 1st I visited some local schools. Did manage a couple small silver trinkets:
The item on the right has ST 35 on the back...I'm assuming that it is sterling.
In addition, I found $4.30 in clad composed of 6 quarters, 15 dimes, 18 nickels and 40 pennies (including 9 copper), and these trinkets:
On June 7th I went a little farther and visited 5 tot lots in a neighboring city. The temperature was around 87 and it was HUMID! I'm really glad that I have air conditioning in my car. I spent around an hour and a half at each tot lot which was about my limit for the heat. The cold air in the car provided me with temporary relief as I drove to the next lot. I must admit, I did pass up a couple tot lots (one had those giant wood chips, you know, the ones you twist your ankles on?). The next one I passed on had really old chips. It is difficult to lose anything on the old chips as everything just bounces & lays on top. Everything I've found on those old chips has been deep and I just didn't feel like digging for deep targets in that heat!
I've been trying the Ace 250 every now and then to see how it functions so I can help my wife when she goes with me. I used the Ace at the first two tot lots and decided that I kinda like it. I managed 6 quarters, 8 dimes, 14 nickels, 45 pennies, 2 barrettes (whoopie) and a Michelle pendant. The only thing about hunting on Jewelry is you end up digging EVERY piece of foil on the lot!
I switched to the M6 for the last 3 tot lots as I am much more comfortable with it. I managed only 4 quarters, 20 dimes, 15 nickels, 52 pennies, a mood ring, a crown pendant, a barrette, a small heart pendant, an earring, an aluminum kids ring, 2 Chucky Cheese tokens, 1 Namco token and, get this: I was detecting along and realized that I wasn't getting many signals...I looked at the M6's dials and they had both moved from their normal settings! I must have brushed them with my arm while digging a target. The discrimination had moved clockwise so that it was discriminating out most of my targets and the Sens had moved counterclockwise decreasing the sensitivity! I quickly adjusted them...the discrimination I turned slightly below the triangle recommended setting...don't ask me why, I normally keep it at the triangle. A few minutes later, BEEP (foil). I swung the coil again...same thing. Figuring I'd just pick up the foil I brought the Lesche to the ground and scraped it across the chips. To my surprise, lying there was a 10K small butterfly ring! Some foil that was! I just may stop discriminating out foil.
Here's some pic's:
Not any big silver or gold but I had fun. Oh yeah...$7.72 in clad. Happy hunting y'all!
