What do you guys do with your fines when minutes detecting after hoarding them in secret for years I've got about 200 wheat pennies 50 Canadian 50 nickels dirty dimes 10 quarters pre 1964 none of them are in incredible condition, but also none of them have been improperly cleaned just cleaned enough for a date and set aside till later... Fellow metal detector offered me a dollar for any wheat panty I find metal detecting, I figure for what it's worth you'll probably make a fortune off of me one day but I'm probably making money out of him till then $1 a time or is this a dumb trade... What scares me of the idea of a simple weekend regular or poor conditions come well being over a thousand dollars and not even know what could really use the money let me know guys. Also this coin that says press I have an identified and no one has been able to match it for me yet That's for extra credit or bonus points and the other photo is of what I believe is a old hammer coin or a railroad smash coin but lost nowhere near railroad and also probably smash on the railroad during the prohibition or something cuz it's non-magnetic and rang up at like a coin.... I've been digging in Minnesota with equinox 900... Comment or PM me thanks again

Tell your friend I have about 1700 I'll sell him for $1000 even.

Most wheat cents are worth well under $1 but of course there are exceptions like better dates and better condition. Your best bet would be to get a Whitman Redbook of US coins and learn which dates might be worth more.

There are exceptions, but, most dug coins have environmental damage to them. If the do, they aren't very popular to coin collectors unless they are a rare date/mintmark. Clean them to whatever degree that makes you happy. If you have someone that will pay you $1 for every wheat cent, take it! If he has about $25,000, send him my way. I'll sell him every wheat cent I have.....and that will be a lot less than $1 each. I'll even throw in all my Indian cents.

I don't think my wife would ever let me go detecting again if I was finding panties
Just don't tell her when you do! :laughing7: And don't bring them home......

If your boy wants to give you a dollar for each wheat penny (at least that’s what I think you said) …. Let him.

Cudamark and I.cutler give the best advice thus far. Also, if your friend wants wheat cents, I can part with all of mine. About 2500 coins at current count. 10-20 more almost every week.
