Some People Think That PI's Can Not Find Many Coins......That Is A Myth.

A lot of people are under the impression that PI's only find lots of iron, bobby pins, other metallic junk and with some luck....a ring. That is simply a myth. Using the iron check, the audio tones (you have to learn them), the swing width, the 8 quiet blips on most bobby pins and straight nails and the roughness sound on many bottle caps vs. a coin, allows the user to actually leave a lot of junk in the ground. Between learning your PI detector well and choosing proper locations to use a PI, you should be able to get a nice batch of coins in the water or land. If you are looking for old silver and old copper coins, dig only the low-high signals instead of the high-low signals. The modulated audio also allows the user to just dig the deep targets.

These coins were found in during my learning curve, for the first 8 water hunts. I averaged about 50:50 ratio of junk vs. coins & jewelry. That really is pretty good, considering some water hunters dig it all, no matter which brand/type of metal detector they use.

I enjoy reading your tips. The more i read that people post on here the more i learn. Some stuff seems like BS at 1st but once you learn what you think is BS you're glad you tried it. Sometimes I spend a lot of time trying new things just to better master my detector. It always seems to pay off the next time i go out. I am still trying but I still don't seem to find a difference between pro zero and pro coins. I get the same tones and find the same amount of coins and trash. I always use iron audio on iffy signals and it works well. I often ck to make sure what I thought was trash on an iffy signal is trash

I realize you are trying to hype up this detector, but I have NEVER heard anyone say that about a PI.

It can be. You have to pick your locations carefully.

John, No one ever said that PI's "...Can Not Find Many Coins....". Who did you hear that said that? But about pulse machines propensities to lack ID on iron...., Yes, people say THAT.

The tricks you talk about, to use tones and audio to discern nails vs. coins, is going to lend you problems. I have heard people say this. Yet when you press them, they will admit that these tricks only work on straight nails. Not bent nails or flat washers, etc... Plus " nagging doubts" send them back to dig a bunch of signals " just to be sure". And I would be dubious about automatically passing all double beeps. Because what if it is an elongated conductive metal object? Like a gold stick pin for instance.

Maybe you have clean beaches where you can play the odds like that. All I know is that I have seen many people show up on our beaches with PI's making the same claims you make ( about tones, iron, etc...) But when they end up on a nail riddled beach, we see them tuck their tail between their legs, and leave for greener grounds (cleaner beaches).

You brought up some good points Tom. Some nails if bent will not give multiple tones, and a ring may still give multiple tones. However, you missed the whole point of my post. You have to learn your metal detector well. I could write pages on little tricks to help the user increase his/her probability of good targets compared to junk, however I chose to make a point that an experienced PI user, using his/her learned technical skills + ability to chose proper locations (again, evidenced based learning) will find good targets and of course some junk. There are many people who buy a metal detector, use it, can't understand it, can't find targets, then suggest that the metal detector is a piece of junk! I have even seen this on this forum.

If an experienced PI user goes to a nail infested area, and has poor results, he/she will not leave with the tale between the legs, but waving back & forth from behind, as the PI user will go back to the vehicle and grab the proper detector for that environment.

The ATX is not a replacement for the AT Series. A PI in the hands of an experienced user is a very successful detector. And as stated in my original post above...."Between learning your PI detector well and choosing proper locations to use a PI, you should be able to get a nice batch of coins in the water or land." is a realistic piece of advice.

The Myth seem to be that the newest/latest detector can find more.....:icon_scratch:.....that Myth was busted aeons ago.

Reality is a PI metal detector like any other detector is just a tool................. it's How and Where it's used that matter and that part totally depend on the user.

Results from just 2 p.m. daylight outings with my Infinium LS............heck, I could have located the same items with an ATX......?..... if it had been freely/unrestricted available.
