I’ve been digging through boxes of points and other items I made during my knapping heyday’85-‘07. I have dozens! The points on the left and right are chipped from ball flint from Eddyville KY. The center point is made from coastal plains flint from the landfill at Dothan AL.

What county are you in over there in MO? You might have some good flint near you. I’d love to have some Mozarkite from Lincoln Co.
Gary , some years back I was invited to go to a mans property out Hiway 70 and I think it was past Columbia Mo. and then south of 70 and he had a group show up and we dug a lot of Mozarkite pf several colors . I sent a friend of mine several pounds of it to him . I thought I had some more of it out in my shop BUT I cant find it right now , BUT if I do I'll send you some. Russ P.S. If I'm not mistaken it was around Sedalia Mo. and I this the man was from the Mozarkite Society . Getting old has it's drawbacks to my memory ! :) :)

Oh I’m clear across the state, down near Springfield and Branson.

Oops! I’m wrong about that. It’s Lincoln MO the town, not the county. It’s Benton Co actually. I’ve hunted flint around Branson. You have nice rocks! Burlington, Reeds Spring, and Pierson are my favorites. A good friend of mine grew up in Branson and recently built a new home around Ozark. He’s taken me on several rock hunts. Very pretty area!

Really? That's good to know. I must admit I don't know one type of flint from another, I just know there's plenty of it. You can't hit the ground with a crowbar without throwing sparks around here. I guess I need to do some learning...
