Some of today's finds at the park

I spent about 3 hours today at our local park. This park has been around since 1870. This is some of the stuff I found, none of it old, well not very old. Even found something that I should get rid of. There were a couple of other items, mostly junk pieces of iron and foil. I can't seem to find where the old stuff might be, guess I'll just have to keep looking. I know that in the beginning it was what the name implies, trout ponds. A place people could go to fish. It was also supposed to be a fairgrounds. At some point the ponds were filled in. I can't seem to find any pictures though surely some must exist.

Sounds like the park should be a good spot ... keep researching it and working the odd spots where others may not have wanted to hunt and maybe you'll dig a good one ... best of luck on your next trip!

Yep, nice finds. Keep at it. I think I had a pipe like that when I was younger. A lot younger.

Looks like you were busy today. That cannabis pipe looks like it's got some left over's in it ;D

Re: Some of today's finds at the park- follow up

I stopped back at the park this afternoon with a friend. We kind of went in different directions. I didn't find anything of interest however an older gentleman in his late 70's walked up to me and asked if I'd found anything. We got to talking and he pointed out where the "park" was really located and that I was detecting in what used to be a pasture. Well to say the least I was a little dumbfounded. It seems that the size of the park had been increased in size by almost three times its original size and I was imagining the layout all wrong. I had been reviewing tax maps and now believe I understand where I probably should be looking. Unfortunately a good portion of the area is overgrown and may be difficult to work but I'll be back to give it a shot.

Cool finds!
I agree there is something you should probably
get rid of. Some things aren't something you
would like to have to explain if a situation ever
arose.
Happy Hunting!

Re: Some of today's finds at the park

look around the older benches and tables and at least 1-2 feet out from the biggest trees people used to sit under tres back in the day and stuff always falls out ofyour pockets when at picinic tables and beces you never catch everything that comes out

I made a fishing lure out of the last paraphenalia I found. I figure the fish will get the munchies and bite on it.

The thing with the s on it looks like the brake lever off a schwinn bicycle.

I'm pretty sure that is the gear shift lever from a Schwinn, either a 5 speed or 10 speed. It looks just like the one on the bike I had as a kid back in the early 70's.
