What do I think?? What do I think?? .............

I think holy s%^t what an awesome collection. Some of the toning on those coins is gorgeous. I love the ones with the even toning over the whole face.
Quite a collection you've got going there, thanks for sharing.

Nothin' like a cartwheel!

When we were kids, they had a great feel in our pocket, and we hated to spend 'em.

They would buy 2 - count 'em - 2 boxes of 22 shells though. 100 rounds. Enough for all Saturday at the swamp.

Wow, that 1880 S PL is a knockout!!! You have some exquisite coins there!!

Thanks a lot! That's my highest graded Morgan and is definitely one of my favorites. It looks even better in hand, as my picture-taking abilities aren't all that great. (Compared to what some others can do)

Awesome collection, when I was younger my friend that owned a coin shop had ever Morgan made and used to let me take it home and use them to learn to grade with, I was only 13 I would never let someone take my collection home lol, I was lucky. After all these years I only have one Morgan. Love your collection it brought back memories.

Do you clean the black off the coins or leave it on? Some of them look UC

I'm not sure what you mean by "the black" but if you mean the toning, there is no way I'd ever want to clean that off, because it adds eye appeal and ergo, value. If you meant carbon spots, then no, you wouldn't want to attempt to clean those off either, because almost every method of cleaning will be very detrimental to the value of a coin. Also, all of the coins in this post are Uncirculated, MS62-65.

Again, for emphasis, DON'T clean your coins.

I started collecting U.S. coins in the early 70's and eventually talked my dad into a Morgan Dollar set for himself. I had to play middle-man to ensure he got MS-63+ coins (Called Gem BU back then) since he knew zero about grading and the dealers almost always tried to sneak a lesser grade in. He was a successful business man and we got all but the final 13, most expensive coins in the set before he refused to cough up ($600.00?) for the next in line. My dad always promised me that set after he died which I would never sell due to the sentimental value.

He called three years ago after a move from Las Vegas to Mesquite to inform me that the box with the Morgans, his pistol, and his wife's jewelery was missing. He filed a police report but the movers got off due to lack of any proof.

What a loving, trusting man. Here's to good, but financially poor, fathers.

love the tone coins. the morgan dollar is my favorite coin. i guess the peace and the silver eagle would be next. just wondering did you buy the toned coins that way or have they toned since you got them? i have always wondered why some coins tone and others dont?

I bought all of the toners with the toning on them. I paid premiums for the color on quite a few of them over the price of a normal white Morgan dollar of the same date/condition.

That is a great collection, those Morgans are beautiful! I absolutely love the toning!
