I did some CRHing of Quarters, Nickels, and Small Dollars over the last couple days.

I started with a $500 bag of quarters. As expected no silver. The mix was $312 in 1965-1998 and $188 in Statehood. The only coins I didn't find from 1965-2006 was an Iowa-P and a Minnesota-P.

Next was a $200 bag of nickels. I didn't do too bad:

38-S
39
40 x2
41
42
43-P Silver
45-S Silver
46 x3
48
49 x4
50-59 x25

Some of the misc were 7 Canadian, 1 copper coated, 1 with 2 holes, and 2 cents.

I normally wouldn't go out of my way to search small dollars but...My dump bank was trying to be nice and surprise me by ordering me some halves but used the wrong line on the form and ended up ordering $2000 in small dollars. I didn't have a set of either started so I told them I'd go through them a little at a time and dump them back into their coin machine so they can ship them out. I've gone through $750 so far and found a few decent looking Sackies and 1 Canadian dollar

These are my keepers so far. I just plan on saving the best example of each date/mint mark for an album. The only 2005 I've found is really ugly.

Nothing spectacular but some variety to keep things interesting.

Nice job Fropa...especailly those war nickels.

I have never tried quarters because I hear silver is very slim pickens. Quarters are so commomly used that most of the silver has been plucked.....unlike the halves.

The hunt continues..........

That nickel with the two holes looks like it was used for a button. I know they use to do that in the 19th century, but that is the first time I have seen one like that in modern times.

Nice finds Fropa. Those '02-'05 Sacs are great! I still haven't found any newer than 2002. Look for 1981 SBA's also. They were only issued in Mint sets.

Ditto that. I've done some rolls of quarters, but no more. Not worth it.

You did really well with the nickels, congrats. It's also nice that you are starting a dollar collection which originally started by the bank making a mistake. I tried a $100 in quarters last week and found nothing.

The 1938-S completes the circulated Jefferson nickel set in the tracking list. Only the proofs to go. Congrats

Thanks everybody.

GMan00001, do I need to post the 1938-S nickel in the tracking forum or will it get updated from posting it here?

I ordered albums for Susan Bs, Sacs, and the new President dollars today, would be nice to fill all the holes from roll finds.

I don't plan to search quarters again, but had to try it once. I am going to put together another set of State quarters since I found all but 2 in the bag.

Immy, I'm on the lookout for the 81 SBAs and the Cheerios Sac dollars.

wayne1956, I thought about it being used as a button also, maybe I'll give it a try.

No, its not necessary as I try to read all the posts. Posting to the tracking list is useful if you want to make sure I don't miss your item or you don't want to start a new thread just to post something for the tracking list. Otherwise just placing it in any thread should be sufficient.
