A buddy and I got out today, hit 3 spots. 2 of them on the same farm and another field we have hit a few times before.

All of the places had been detected before. The previous people did a good job, but there is always something left. Most signals sounded terrible, but were just repeatable enough to dig, was a long day, but I'm very happy with the results.

Many buttons, some tomback, some lead pewter, dropped 3 ringer, nice big dandy button, a 1833 large cent and a 176? Half reale. The date on the reale is in bad shape.

All in all a long but great day.

You said nice finds :) I think they are GREAT fINDS W T G !!!

Nice job….out of curiosity, assuming that is a half circle chunk of lead at the bottom of first pic? If so any thoughts to what it was (besides lead)? I dug one round lead and two round (I think pewter) similar sized discs from a spot a few months ago. Didn’t know if they were simply ingots/material for future use, some sort of preform, or if they had a purpose.

Not certain of the date of site, but listed as “ruins of house” on an 1863 map. No coins found….several flat buttons and iron household items. Guessing late 1700- early 1800s

Honestly it is hard to tell, my thoughts are the same as yours, possibly ingots to make bullets, trade lead of somekind. I imagine lead and pewter was alot more important back then than it is now.
