I got out for a few more hunts but my mouse took a dump so I could not display photo's. this golf club head is solid iron and must be very old. the bell shaped thing is solid 6" in diameter and 5" high, it weighs about 15lbs. any ideas ? I thought maybe a clapper for a bell but nothing on the bottom to actuate it.

Yep, very interesting stuff :icon_thumright:

Are you sure that is a golf club head? It looks pretty crudely made :icon_scratch:

Are you near the coast? The weight looks like a set-net or set-line weight.

I vote boat anchor on bell shape . nice finds anyway.....Matt

setnet anchor sounds about right. there is an old fish tug that sank in the area close by. most of these nets used a very large anchor and I have a few of these too. I'll post a photo of one later.

The bell object could have been a counter weight for a scale, fish scale perhaps.

Nice finds, the bell thing I'm guessing it's a scale weight.

here's a photo of a trapnet anchor from the same area.
