It's been a few weeks since I've been able to get much spare time online. I've missed the forums and you all! Here are some new things that have been in the works. Work has been sucking up most of my free time.
Some of you may remember this Smoky Quartz specimen from my dig in Hiddenite, N.C. I finally had it cut and I'm quite pleased with it.
1.10 ct. 9x6mm Pear
Natural Light
Incandescent Light
An interesting specimen all the way around. This North Carolina Ruby has its signature Rutile "swirl" but also has 4 very large golden Rutile crystals.
1.70 ct. 8x6mm Oval
Not great photos but this is a Hiddenite Emerald.
.75 ct. Round
Another North Carolina Ruby. The Rutile in this specimen causes a brilliant shimmer in certain spots that I've not really seen before.
1.75 ct. 8x6mm Oval
A purchased specimen: I was able to snatch up this specimen of Spodumene/Smoky Quartz on Feldspar for a great deal. I'll have to get some ultraviolet photos for you all on this one. The Spodumene crystals glow a brilliant pink under UV. One of the Spodumene crystals was inter-grown with the Smoky Quartz. The UV photos will display the remnants of the crystal.
More coming very soon!
