got back out to the ol sneaky spot this morning. my brother was supposed to come with me but he was in full sleep mode by the time i went by his house! ::) in his defense he is taking some meds that keep him up at night. maybe he will make it tomorrow. anyway, i finally broke the silver slump with this 42 merc. i also found a dateless buffalo that i wont post because it looks so crappy.

there are also two buttons that are interesting. the first one i believe is a late 1700s early 1800s flat button. if anyone knows for sure i would love to hear about it.

also i found this button. i believe it is military in nature. it is damaged and does not scan well but i will put up these crappy scans and a crappy sketch (hey, i never claimed to be an artist!) it has an eagle facing left with a shield in its chest with stars around the border. does anyone have any idea what this thing might be. it is two pieces. it was deeeep, probably 10 or 11 inches down. anyway that was it from the spot this morning except for a few wheat's, 1917,1941,1921,and a 1920. hopefully i will be back tomorrow morning for some more diggin! ;)

I like the buttons. I've found a few similar ones this year. Post them on the what is it forum. PBK is great at IDing them.

i think i have a positive ID on the last button thanks to wildrider in the button forum! it is an 1850s ish navy button. what i thought was a shield is actually an anchor. too bad it is all crushed. :'( im still happy with it though. thanks for the replies!

nice job keith -- merc was my first silver and always a favorite coin.

beautiful finds hollowpointred ! i love those old mercs, congrats ;)

Nice coins and buttons. I've really grown to like buttons.

Silver isn't easy to find anywhere anymore. I find maybe 20 indian cents for every silver these days.

Nice finds for sure---Silver and buttons in one hunt is excellent.
