Are those coins along the bottom? What were the hooks used for?

No...it's actually not a pin at all, but a piece of a broken bugle.

It sounds like you have a magic place there. Wonder how that piece of bugle got broken off? Are those green items spoons?

Just a lot of research during the cold winter months! Most sites contain lots of discarded, lost or broken artifacts. The battle sites are usually very good. Not sure what "green items" are being referred to, but dead center are shoulder uniform ephalets (dug up in many pieces, and put back together with loving care.) The only spoon in this frame is far right upper corner.
