Last night:
The conditions didn't look that great at first, winds had been steady out of the E at around 12mph or so. Not a huge blow but enough to push the tide (and sand) higher up and make the water a bit rough to get into. Fortunately, right at low tide the wind just suddenly shifted and died down to nothing for a while making some of the lower beach more accessible then it had been. Best find of the night was a small 1.6 gram 10K guardian angel pendant with small diamond chip. Small being relative I guess considering several of the rings this year are even smaller than that!
Today:
Though I made fun of the pendant from last night dues to it's diminutive size....I did remark that it was still larger than some of the rings I had from this year. Little did I know......
Got into one spot today that had some nice stuff in it and I actually dug more old coins than new which was nice. It started with the coins: 3 silver war nickels, 1 buffalo nickel, 8 wheat pennies and one trashed and undated walking liberty 1/2 dollar.
The tiny ring came in at 12.02 and I figured I was in for another minuscule-copper shrapnel- hunt in the wash but there it was in the scoop. It's not really small in size but the weight....I can't get one on my scale.lol It won't even register so it's gotta be less then 1/2 gram. It's even got the tiny little 14K stamp in it as big as a grain of sand. That "small" pendant from last night is a pig compared to this guy! Maybe I need to throw him back till he gains some size.......lol...naw....I'll keep him! Gold Ring #20. 2 away from last years total and 3 away from my goal for this year.
Hoping to add to that count with some California gold when I go out there next month for some work. Gonna MAKE time to hit some beaches in LA!
