Albert, did you find it next to the corrals there on the hill?

NOPE! found another homestead on the hill, got 2 service buttons and 3 wheats, still a couple more places that look pretty good to the north. I got a few keeper relics but nothing spectacular.

Theres way more to that hill than meets the eye.

I'm going to take a stab here but that looks like the piece that goes on the back of a saddle that holds the saddle bags in place.

This is on a military saddle but you get the idea.

It could be a piece off of a McClellan saddle.

Looks more like a spur attachment for the leather instep strap. :thumbsup:

I looked at my McClellan saddle tonight and found that the fitting is similar except the saddle fitting does not have the loop...the McClelland fitting is afixed with 2 wood screws about 1/2 inch apart
