Some kinda hinge?

I found this at an old site. It is a lot in an old part of town. The area was founded in the late 1800's and for Florida that is old LOL. I believe it's the base of a hinge of some kind. The screws were placed in the back side making it a little unusual I think. Any ideas?

Guess it could be a hinge...the way the holes are countersunk on the piece, it doesn't seem like it would work....OK..I don't know either...

I don't have a photo of it, but it looks like a single hinge
from a set o four from an old brass hinged toilet seat.
I'll dig the piece out of my pile tomorrow and photograph
it.

Mine is not as decorative as yours, but you can see they are the same hinge.
