Almost looks like it used to lock a gate. Naw i have no idea :-\

Guess it could be a hinge...the way the holes are countersunk on the piece, it doesn't seem like it would work....OK..I don't know either...

I don't have a photo of it, but it looks like a single hinge
from a set o four from an old brass hinged toilet seat.
I'll dig the piece out of my pile tomorrow and photograph
it.

Hmmm... a toilet seat hinge... yes I can see how that could be it. :o) Thanks for the idea.

I can see that too. Maybe from an original Thomas Crapper Brand.

Mine is not as decorative as yours, but you can see they are the same hinge.

looks more like a decorative hinge for a set of house shutters, maybe
