Hi all,

I found this in a private yard in a 60-70 year old neighborhood, it's very heavy, looks to be made of copper or brass..not sure about the hollow stem but it does spin..also any ideas on its age or collectibility is appreciated. It's one inch tall and about 3/4 of an inch wide.

I thought plumb bob... but that hole in the back is pretty big for just a string, how would that work and still hang true?

Same reason I thought it wasn't.

Dowel plug with a hole through the center (pressing it in with the string down through the hole and off to one side traps the string or else a screw-in attachnemt ring (I have one like that but it's hexagonal).

Or a finial for a fireplace tool set. :D

Is the hole threaded?

As a matter of fact, it is...
