Some kind of shovel? Coal? Western history

Found this in area known for 1800s early 1900s historyhere is Southern California. Have found many western relics in same area. My guess would be a shovel for coal? Any idea on age?

You don't have a good size reference but it looks like a big ole pancake flapper. It is no kind of coal shovel or any other kind of shovel.

Likely used to remove loaves of bread from an old fireplace oven.
