I found this in a park right outside my front door. It's silver and I would think fairly from home...that's about all I know. Any ideas?

Brooch? With their initials. On the back, the top piece would have, had a pin attached, so you could wear it. Nice!!

Greetings Duane,

Welcome to TNet, and thanks for showing us that handsome find.

The "A" is reminiscent of a horse harness, and leads me to believe this may be a teamster or drover's badge...

Could it be related to the providence of BAS Canada?

Maybe BSA, Boy Scouts of America. Something for the mother of a scout??

If this is correct & the date on the badge is correct, 1910, then this was issued in the year of its founding. This I believe would make it very collectable & valueable, specially in Silver. This needs a badge expert to ID, try this site:
THE BRITISH BADGE COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION

There's some chance that the A is supposed to be read first (being larger, and in the center), which often confuses initialed pieces. So, back then it also could also have been the American Boy Scouts (ABS), a competing scout organization (see link). It doesn't however match any of the items of theirs that I could find.

These are some interesting leads....I will pursue the British Badge Collectors and see where that gets me. Thanks to everyone.

I think emailing them will give an ID. Please update us on here, I would like to know.

I agree interlocking, intertwined or entangled letters the centered and larger letter A is most likely read first. Its ABS or BAS. not BSA. The A has nothing to do with horse harness, just the style at that time, I could post some examples of this style A if I was on my other computer. If I get a chance Ill search it down .

If I could access my other computer, I could have more infomation but I found, for starters, that the Boston Badge Co. at 294 Wash. St. was in business in the very early 20th century so the date 1910 is legit. We have members here like Bramblefind that can search this out of old newspapers.

While it can often be hard to tell the order with entangled letters, its most likely that the largest letter in the center is first.
We are probably searching for ABS. Here is an example from Waterbury button Co. of the larger center entangled letter being first. 10262 - Waterbury Button
