That shape is a common theme... very popular around the mid - late 1800s.

I think it may have been a rosette of some kind... since I have no idea what the actual size is.

Ive got one also,it was told to me it was a saddle shield,nice find :thumbsup:

i forgot an important piece of information here............ After running all around town looking for spots
i dug this up at about 12" in my front yard

I, too, have dug one of those. I don't believe they are saddle shields as saddle sheilds are thin stamped brass. My guess is they are off large equipment. But it is just a guess.
