This was all found in an old park. The buttons and the other unidentified thing intrigue me. Esp the one in the center with a H on it. It was under a large old tree and deep. This area has rev war history and dates to the 1700s but I have no idea how old any of this stuff is. Any info or guesses on anything but esp the H button looking thing is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Could you do a clearer close up of the "H" thing? Front and back if possible.

Is it made of lead? If it is it could be a old lead seal. I found a photo that has one in the top left corner that looks close to it. image-3443951683.jpg image-3347395713.jpg image-2615750326.jpg

Hard to tell for a novice like myself but it is quite heavy for a small piece. What are they used for and how old are they?

They go back very old. Probably used to seal wax on a letter, etc.

Lead seals were used for keeping sacks of feed and such closed. they were clamped on the strings. They date back pretty far. Definitely 1800s but possibly even 1700s. Nice find

I guess they are called a "wax seal". But because a lot were made of lead I call it a lead seal. So it's a "lead wax seal"! :)

I thought wax seal but a seal none the less. Good find! :)

Here are some more pics front and back

Is there any way to figure out who used it and could they have used it in the revolutionary war? It was found right near a famous battle site.

What's a lead trade seal? Is there a difference?

Seeing how there is just a letter H on it.... you probably won't be able to date it.

How old are the ones your comparing it to? Where did you find that page?

I didn't read the ebook but it was in this. I typed in "antique lead seal with h" on google and go to images and the go down till you see the picture and it will take you to this book. May have something in it.

I learned something new. The picture was actually special stamps made for bottles. I didn't know they existed. :)
