some help on this seal please

This looks like a seal, a "bale seal", I don't know... I think it says QUAKER or something like that on it on both sides. It's about the size of a seated half-dime. Any idea on the history / period? Thanks!

Seems you aren't the first one to find a "Quaker" maked bale seal!

What do you know about them? I read that they were used to certify the quality of a "bale" of traded items. I'm wondering about the period also. I found it in central NH.
