Some good spots in california?

Hi,

I lived in Orange County for 12 years. A friend who is a geologist said an area in California was where General Patton trained his troops. There are many military artefacts buried. I can't remember the location and all my reference material is packed. However, if you do a little research, you should be able to find this location. I recall it's either off the I-15 toward Barstow, or it's off the I-10 on the way to Phoenix. Sorry I don't have the exact info, but an online search should help. Good luck!

Hey Cinder,
I live in Riverside and am out as much as I can. The patton area is HUGE and you're right no metal detecting allowed. You will find that is the main attitude out in any area in Southern California. Sorry... I know of 2 area's that are still military area's. One is Superstition Mt just west of Brawley. However you can only go to " some " spots and not everywhere ( it is still used as a bombing spot ). The other spot is the CIA ( Carrizo Impact Area ). This place was also used for bombing training from the 40's to the mid or late 50's. You may want to try to google a place called Camp Wright. It's out in Oak Grove on the 79S ( see pic ). It's the only fort in California history that actually went after Confederate's during the Civil War. I don't know if you can detect out there but the drive there is worth the trip. A trip down the S2 is worth it's weight as well ( at least to me it is ). Check the California board. Send me a email @ [email protected] and I can email a bunch of historical sites to at least get you started.
