Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

MD'ing for a month now and here's some pics of my top findings
Found them all from the bottom of one of the local lakes with my ace 250 and I couldn't even go deeper than knee deep.. need to buy a pair of those rubber boots that the duck hunters use, the ones that go all the way up to the chest.. and perhaps post more pics then! :D

Woaw :o Great stuff! lots of hallmarks on that gold one, any ideas who made it?

Re: Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

Thanks,

Found the details of those hallmarks on that gold ring:

The first one, a crown inside a heart=quality verified in finland
RMV=Made by RMV-Korut Oy Kirkkonummi (a finnish jewellery company called RMV-korut located in Kirkkonummi)
585=14k gold
Q8=made in 1993

The KM in the silver ring means:
KM-Koru Oy (another finnish jewellery company)

Congrats on the gold and silver! I have a pair of waders, they work great. I also use a thick piece of styrofoam 18"X18"X3" to dump my scoop onto, tie it to my leg with a cord so it floats along with you. You might consider making a list of all the swimming lakes in the area, a few in my area drain the lake every year or close to it. HH, Mike

Re: Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

You used your Ace 250 underwater?(the coil only?) Was this in a rock bottom or sandy muddy bottom?

Re: Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

Thanks for those tips Bavaria Mike, I'll think I'll need to try the styrofoam thing when hunting alone, so far I've had my wife doing all the digging, she loves this hobby!
Dude101, yep just the coil underneath the water. The lake has a sandy bottom, not really muddy one so the water stays very clear even while digging or you'll just have to wait around 3 to 5 seconds to let the sand fall down again to see clearly. Perhaps due to the soil type the targets are not very deep and the ace EASILY detects even the coins that been there almost 100 years! The oldest one as shown in the picture above is a very very small coin in size and ace had no problems detecting it all! It's difficult to say exact depths from where the coins were detected because we usuallly just spread the sand around until the target moves and just then pick it up with one of these "tools" I've attached here....

That's some great stuff there, Blue. Congrats!

Re: Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

I knew you wasn't diving with a Ace 250. Its not waterproof. I didn't want other readers to think they could submerge the entire machine.
I didn't know the coil was submersible!
Some on here say they have trouble with the 250 in wet sand that is why I was asking.

Very interesting!!!!!!!!
Thanks

Re: Some gold some silver, it's a good start!

In sweet water, I can turn the sensitivity all the way up to max but in salty water beaches I use level 3 or 4. It seems to do pretty well on level 1 and 2 aswell if the coin/rings around 2 inches deep.
One of the reasons I ended up buying ace 250 was that the coil is water proof (check the pic I've attached, it's from Garret's web page):

So far we've found 172 coins, 7 rings, bullets, hairpins, earrings, fishing gadgets... makes me think what would it be like to hunt these local sites with a PRO-level detector!!
