Picked up 3 box lots at an auction last week. Folded up in a piece of fabric is what looks to be a California Gold Fractional Token......i know some of the tokens were gold, and some werent......whats your opinion? I couldnt find much on the tokens, only the minted fractionals. Also this really nice CW store token......I snagged all of the boxes for less than $150 and have already made my money back so I will be keeping these :) Even if the token is just gold plated.....its still cool......also i tossed in the IH for size comparison, found that with Bezjo back around the first of the year.......

Bushido,
Your 1858 is a token, but it is gold. Look up my recent posts, and you will find a thread about this exact token. I had some other California that some didn't want to believe in, but they were correct. The only bad one I had was the same one you have. I talked to an expert on these things, and he said that your token sells between $25-35.
Hope that helps,
Jon Dickinson.

Hey dude, :hello:

Looks like gold to me but I can't find that example in my Red Book so I'm not so sure about it. :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Good score on that box ! :icon_thumleft:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

I remember when I was a kid and first getting involved with coin collecting alot of the coin shops had replicas of the CA gold for sale cheap. Alot of them were exact replicas of the real coins so you really need an expert to look at it to be sure. Unless of course yours is a variety that was never minted using real gold. Good luck with it and let us know what you find.
