Yesterday, myself and 6 other brave (foolish?) individuals from our metal detecting club detected at Dellwood Park in Lockport, IL in frigid conditions (temperatures ranged from 14-20 degrees F during my 4 hours of hunting). The real obtacle wasn't really the cold (as we were dressed appropriately) but the frozen ground, which made it impossible to dig every good signal. The park was built in 1905-06 by the Chicago & Joliet Electric Railway Company and during the peak years, as many as 15,000 persons visited the park on weekends during company picnics.
My finds were:
  • an old brass buckle
  • 2 quarters (1991, 1999)
  • 3 dimes (1985, 1988, 2022)
  • 6 pennies (1919, 1972, 1979, 1980, 1986, and unidentified)
Does anyone know how to date an old brass buckle like the one I found in the photo? Thanks in advance!
