Found this little collection roaming around an old field today. Few buckles I need to clean up but this is what had me pretty excited. Oldest coins to date for me. IH was my first dig of the day and set the tone for the hunt. Had a friend join me later in the day who dug an old horseshoe and two more 1800 double gilt buttons.

Nice coin and button dig, looks like a promising site.

Not only was my first ever IH find on yesterday's trip but I scored 3 before lunch!

Partners finds who joined me for a few hours later in the day.

Congrats on your oldest coin finds. Those are some nice ones to dig.

Congrats on your first Indians

WTG on finding a good producing site. Congrats on pulling all those keepers and also for digging your oldest coin to date. I can see you are on the board with silvers for 2016. I have hunted twice this year, still skunked on the silvers, but did manage to dig an IHP.

GL & HH in 2016.

Nice hunt. A little silver, nice old buttons and Injun's.
Looks like a perfect hunt to me.....

Thanks, can't wait to upgrade this gamma and get a little more depth. Also have another 90% of the field to cover.

Then I'd say you've still got lots of great finds just waiting for you. Congrats on those posted, and those to come!

Nice tribe you put together there...plus a silver to boot. That's a great day digging in anyone's book!

So what's your upgrade plan anyway?? Are you putting a different coil on your Gamma??

I'm still using a Delta with the stock 8" coil and it still amazes me. I had planned on an upgrade early in the spring but I was doing so well with the Delta I just never got around to it. I'm determined to have something even better by spring though. My next upgrade will either be either a T2, Omega or G2. I'm definitely sticking with the Tek brand.

I see you have a BH 505 as well. I started off with a BH Tracker IV, then went to a 202 and then a Land Star. They all found me treasure (and lots of trash) but the Tek took everything to a whole new level.

I would also like to try the BH Land Ranger Pro. I've heard amazing things about it as well. It's supposed to be quite a detector for it's price.

I love my gamma it's a coin monster. My only dislikes are the amount of EMI chatter I get when near power lines or networks or other disturbances and the fact that it's not waterproof. My partner with an ATPRO just pulled a nice early 1800s button out of an area I've hit hard with the tek. She dug it on tone not TID. It was also at 8". In trashy areas my tek has great recovery speed but seems to get confused when targets are masking. I have trouble in trashy areas with it. If the targets are clean and stacked she'll do well but if they're cruahed, foil, or rotten metal it plays he'll trying to sort it out.
I have the stock coil on it now. I have River access and would like a waterproof detector not only for inclement weather but to hunt the river and banks. My other gripe is the lack of intuitive tones you get with the gamma. 4 max and yes they vary in clarity and strength but I'd really like a more tone based detector for relic hunts and keep the gamma for coinshooting.
My idea was the T2 or ATPRO but the at is winning out given the waterproof feature.
I liked my land star and the 505 is my backup for when someone wants to join in on hunts. They are both great for bullets and coins for what they are. Started with a land star and returned it due to chatter issues which were intermittent and deemed a manufacturers defect. The only reason I really went with the gamma is I had a bunch of bass pro gift cards and they matched the lowest online price I could find on the gamma. It was also the highest end model they had in stock.

I hunt rivers frequently and use my Tesoro Umax, leg waders and a flat bar for digging. A pair of leather gloves helps so you want get cut or stabbed by a sharp object. The 2 ft from coil to bottom of box is deep enough for me. By the time you reach down to dig your target your up to your armpit. Unless its summer the water gets pretty cold especially as its running down the inside of your shirt. Rivers are different of course but mine are fairly solid and shallow close to the shore. I use a flat bar because I can pull rocks or debris or pry. Very handy even as a land digger. They can be resharpened on a grinder when they get dull.
Congrats on your finds!
