Looking at some of the great collections here got me to wanting to post some of mine. Few months ago I made a few new displays for my parents home. Best part is- I still had the same stain and varnish from the mantle. (made that for them last Christmas.) Anyway, wish I had time to make displays for all of best- but even if I did- the wife wouldn't let me put any more stuff up. She says I hog too much of the walls now...
Hope ya'll like.

Rock, you took the words out of my mouth. Arranging frames for display is a true art. Some people, such as the new member here (sorry I forgot to look at your name) have that gift. I wish I had it, but do not. When I try to make an artistic point arrangement, it never falls in place. Notice I never post frames. Reason for that is, they are all in straight lines. Lol. Welcome to T-net!!

You are not kidding not only is the framing a work of art there are some very nice artifacts there on display. I understand the wall space problem. Thanks for sharing the displays.

I agree with all the replies, I really like the display borders too. How did you do the 2 that's on the hearth? Very neat looking.

Thanks for all the kudo's.
RiverRat- it's just two pieces of plexiglass. Little spot of hot glue to the back piece to hold the point in place- the shim the front one tight (make sure no really big one is off to any one side- or at least failry even..)

BTW- I'm not really a newbie- posted a few times before but the website change bothered me and seemed slower to load pages on a slow comp so I quit posting... New computer and and a little time...
Good huntin all.

Ooops! Sorry for implying you were a newbi. We can tell you are experienced where it counts.

Awesome!
There are just some things, you know, you will never see anywhere else in the world.
That was one of them. Thank you for sharing.

1more, are those all personal finds from LA? Did you make the frames (woodworking)?

Great collection! Awesome arrangements!

Your wife is correct, you are hogging the walls too much. I will be happy to let you use my walls to solve your delimma! Nice displays, are those bone points in the top right pic?

Dlos- yes and yes, Nearly all are LA finds in the Red River valley and to the TX boarder- but not all are my personnal Finds. Maybe half or so. Some were dug by my Grandmother in the 70's, my brother in the 80's and 90's and picked up a couple handfulls from folks along the way. I've got a couple buckets full of scrapers blanks and broke points- and maybe as many shown once again that are great points but haven't done anything with them -yet.

Newnan Man- just a couple bone points in the whole collection but those in the top right are Chert- Evans Points are thier appointed name for that kind of double notch. Those are pretty rare- maybe only found 12 in my whole 30 years of lookin. 6 in the frame, the three in my avatar and 3 more not as nice...

My golden fleece is a banner stone! I just can't seem to find one...
Thanks again for all the kudo's.

I just noticed you're from LA. The northern LA artifacts are so much different from what we have down in the swamps.

Woah. I am not allowed to put them on the walls. And your collection is outstanding. Are those side kmotches a cache? They looked to be knapped by the same ancient. Man would I love to inspect them with a good microscope. I bet there are flakes the same size and shape on more than one of them. Same Stone too, it seems. Thanks so much for letting us even see the pixels :). I would love to see high res images. That would be just as good almost. But for the warmth in the artifact. They all have that feel of their creators.

Fisherman- None of them were found together. However they were all found in the same parish maybe within 25 miles of each other. So, I suppose it's possible some could have been the same knapper or atleast kin or taught of the same clan.
I expect it was adapted to be a very strong haft on a stout lance shaft though some have a knife type shape.
If I have time tonight I might be able to send you a good close up of a few.
PEACE
