Some Days

All week long I had planned to go out yesterday but woke up to yet another dreary, rainy sunless day (been 6 days like this now). I decided to head out anyway just to go do something that wasn't work, house work, chores and so on. Turned out to be one of the better days of lookin' I've had in a while! Some days you just have to go out and deal with the conditions.....

Within the first 2 minutes at my first stop I had this in hand!! Nice old Kirk!

Second stop I walked up on this rough but large Guilford

And another Kirk at second stop

After a few more stops finding nothing I stopped at a place I don't usually get much but pulled this bad boy! I think a Guilford but may be something else...

This is the last decent one I picked up, broke but big and thin

Everything else was broken, some nice wouldabeens but all in all a nice day out!

Here's the group shot, sorry about the crappy iPhone pics.

For comparison's sake, last week I went out all day with a buddy and this was the ONLY thing we found the entire muddy time we were out, nice serrated Yadkin...

Thanks for lookin'!

Nice hunt Dlos ! Love yer finds but man that big guilford must have been made with some crappy rock. Looks like they couldn't even drive a decent flake across it. Continued success !

Looks like NC stone. They had to use what they could find. You got some nice ones, congrats

That green stone is something we see a lot of here in NC, I believe it's a rhyolite. I've seen beautiful points made from it and ones like the Guilford above. I think it must be that when you see the "bad" or ugly ones that those pieces were made in a hurry and for a purpose or they were "trainers" that were part of someone's learning curve. To that end, maybe they just never got finished?? Who knows.

I do know though, that good bad or ugly, I'm always happy to pick anything up with decent length on it!

Thanks for the posts!

Very nice recovery's! :icon_thumright: That last Triangle point sure is a dandy!

You are right you have to deal with the weather and other things are you wont find anything. I have never found an artifact setting in the house. Great finds and that's the way to be a die hard:hello2:
