some buttons, one with a train on it

i found these a while back, anyone have any info they would be willing to share on these
the train one has a train pulling a cart and has no markings, and was found in a early 1900's area, the one piece one says hodge & co. edinbro, and was found in a 1800's mining town, and the other has a wreath with 5 stars in the opening of the wreath, and was found by a house that was torn down in the 1940's, a long shot i know, its the train one that really interests me

wow, the train one is in nice shape i have one thats rusty and dont want to clean it for fear of some of the details will be lost. nice find

had to go digging in my box,s and mine is not the same as yours. mine dont have tne cart behind it. again nine find

i cleaned mine up a bit and it has a cart on it but mine is not facing the same way. the Scan is bad because i did not want to brush it no more

i would say that the trains was from uniforms.

The train button is an early 1900's work clothes button. It's shown in Baker's Railroad Collectibles, and similar train buttons can also be found in the "Work Clothes" section of Hughes & Lester's The Big Book of Buttons.

The button with stars is listed by the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps as, "Button, Tack, M-1941" and since 1941 has been used on various military clothing and fabric equipment closures.

Anytime, Brandon. BTW, you didn't ask about it, so I'm guessing that you already know the large eagle & anchor button (next to the "stars" one) is a U.S. Marine Corps uniform button.

actually i have been writting waterbury, the people there have no time frame they can give to me.all they said is that its a marine button made by them. its frustrating. i saw a ww1 coat with buttons similar and yet i have seen these dug from civil war sites??FRUSTRATING!!!!
button says waterbury button co. and in small print conn upside down. i ruined the button cleaning it i know are you able to date this one pbk?

ps i notice all of the similar buttons vary by teeny tiny details, so im lost

It appears to be the variety listed as #MC 14 in Albert's Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons, which would make it pretty late— well into the 20th century. However, just to be sure, I double-checked the backmark with Bob Edmondson, who knows military buttons even better than your mama knows your name, and he says the same.
