SOLVED Spanish War Medal

Found this medal in coarse saltwater gravel.
Can't make out anything but maybe ' U S W V ' for 'U.S War Veterans'? at the bottom.
possibly turn of the century/Spanish War. 20 X 24 MM
Hoping someone can read more.
